Although the livery yard is DIY we have services on site approximately 330 days a year. The service provision is not imposed in any way and is there for you to access as and when you require any help.
The equines that board with us range from competition horses and hunters to retired pets.
The horses are grazed in small herds and we offer safe grazing, for those that require it, as well as lush paddocks.
There is a lovely social side to the yard and to ensure effective communication between liveries there are chat groups for each herd and a private Facebook group for owners and loaners. All chat groups and social media is overseen by management.
At Park Farm we understand how stressful it can be to move to a new yard but rest assured you and your horse will be made to feel welcome by all and everything you both need to settle in will be taken care of.
About Park Farm
Park Farm is an arable farm operating for nearly 60 years and a 33-horse livery yard for over 30 years. Situated on the Holford estate in Northwich, Cheshire. The arable side now produces Maize for cattle feed, the farm is a tenanted business from INOVYN a subsidiary of INEOS.
Park Farm is a grade two listed farmhouse and buildings set in the Cheshire countryside with stunning views all round. There are miles of off-road hacking and field riding available at certain times of the year on the arable ground and hay fields.
The day-to-day livery services and general management are run by Kim. However, I am never far away and always approachable.
We are a family friendly livery yard who pride ourselves on our inclusive professionally run facility. A lot of our liveries have been with us for over 20 years.
All paddocks are equi fencing. All lays are pony/horse mixes to give early, mid, and late season grazing. Hay production is also aimed at equestrian requirements supporting specific varieties.
Our stables are purpose built with automatic waters in all stables, so no water carrying is required. We have tack rooms with toilet and hand washing facilities with designated feed and tack bays for all liveries. There are also further farm storage areas for each livery holding Hay, Straw and haylage all supplied by ourselves.
Our facilities include a standing bay for clipping and shoeing; next door we have wash bay with hot water for wash downs. Hay soaking can be problematic for some with laminitic and EMS conditions, so with this in mind, we have designated soaking bay.
We also have an on yard 20 by 40 menage made up of sand and fibre with lights for night-time use.
All the facilities, including the farm rides, are for the sole use of patrons at Park Farm
Embracing Respect and Well-being, Our No Bullying Commitment at Park Farm
No Bullying Policy
At Park Farm (PF) we are committed to provide an environment that is friendly and warm to all the liveries at PF. The ability to carry out your sport, hobby, or simple relaxation in a calm secure environment is a priority at PF. Everybody here has a common denominator, respect for all must always be observed; this means that opinions that are not asked for are not welcome.
The recognised Bullying definition is:
“Bullying is any deliberate, hurtful, upsetting, frightening, or threatening behaviour by an individual or group towards other people. Bullying is mean and results in worry, fear, pain, and distress to the victim(s).”
Reporting to management
It must be stated that on rare occasions disagreement do occur, however PF expect these to be dealt with in a mature, rational, quiet manner. Management like to be notified even in these situations, usually common sense and a reality check prevails. However, depending on the situation and severity, measures by management may be implemented if we think a member is out of order and 1 warning ONLY will be given if serious.
If bullying as defined above is suspected or is being perpetrated, incidents must be reported to management as soon as possible, either by parties involved or by liveries observing; this can be done on a confidential basis if necessary.
These incidents will be investigated by myself, witness statements and PF security system will also be used to corroborate any allegations if necessary.
If bullying is confirmed in breach of PF contact, depending on the severity, the Police may also be involved. That livery will be suspended from attending PF and 1-months contractual notice given to remove their horse.
Full livery will be provided at the liveries cost until removal and full contractual settlement.
Park Farm has a ZERO tolerance to bullying
Here is a little more information on the yard policies and procedures at Park Farm.
WORMING POLICY
Everybody is aware that there are a lot of opinion on worming, so with this in mind, I have taken both Veterinary advice plus the latest scientific research from West Gate Laboratory, confirming a worming programme that will be acceptable to all at Park Farm while being in line with current thinking.
The programme for Park Farm will be a fact-based evidence policy. All liveries will be required to conduct worm egg count test organised by Park Farm a minimum of twice a yearly carried out onsite professionally. The time scale will be the end of March (beginning of springtime) and the end of September (the cessation of summer).
To date Park Farm has not had a massive worm issue so commenting on outcome is theoretical. However, if it was the case that Park Farm had a large number needing worming across the farm, this cohort would be wormed with a further whole Farm test require 10/12 weeks later.
Test results will not be published or intentionally made common knowledge. Worm count and actions required will be communicated to each horse owner. Wormers will need to be sourced by the relevant owners with the package given to management for disposal and recording. Clearly where applicable owners may need to seek veterinary advice for wormer brand type and strength.
It has now been made clear that evidence-based worming is considered the best approach for effective control while protecting wormer resistance.
It may be the case some would prefer to pursue their own worming program. In this instance the two worm counts stated above will still be mandatory for all yard members.
Any new members to park Farm will be required to demonstrate a low/clear egg count as a first preference. Alternatively, the horse can be wormed if necessary and applicable, but in this case the access to the paddocks will be delayed 48 hours.
Finally, the clearing of horse muck from each paddock is mandatory for all liveries as part of Park Farms ongoing control policy.
Security
The security of everybody who is part of the Park Farm Family is of the highest importance to us.
This being at the forefront, we have carried out risk assessments involving operations at Park Farm, implementing measures to manage any risk.
All entrances to Park Farm are secured by combination locks via barriers and gates. The tack rooms are also secured with automatic closer and combination locks.
Park Farm have an extensive very advanced 16 camera CCTV system covering the whole yard, including the paddocks, 24 hrs per day. The cameras also have a built-in motion detection and notification system built in which operates at designated times.
We also have a mobile stable cam which can be placed to monitor a particular horse if the owner requests it.
All camera and security protocols including data protection are registered with the OEC for full transparency.

At Park Farm we invite any prospective livery to come and have tour of the farm. This is for several reasons; it allows the livery to get a feel of the facilities and services we offer and at this stage will discuss costs for both the facilities and services. We assess the knowledge and experience of any prospective livery due the importance we place on fitting in to the dynamic of the yard. This doesn’t mean we don’t accept liveries with little knowledge or completely new to the hobby/ sport, assistance from management is given in this case.
We do not allow cliques to evolve or any liveries dictating to others, we have a zero tolerance to bullying. Please see our bullying policy.
We offer DIY and assisted livery up to full livery 6 days per week, however, we also provide holidays cover when pre-arranged.
All our livery places are contractual based, places are secured once a contract is signed. All liveries present on the yard require a contract and comply with the terms of the agreement. Currently we have the full range from happy hackers and hunters to competition.
In 30 years, all stables have been full with available stables filled within a few days of a liveries notice to leave.
